Fact: The Santa Cruz Ski and Snowboard Club is the cheapest way to get to the snow. During winter 2009, the club travelled to the mountains SEVEN times, hitting pow at Northstar, Kirkwood, Sierra, Mammoth, and others.
The SCSSC is one of the largest social clubs in Santa Cruz, and is comprised mainly of UCSC students.

We devote the fall quarter to fundraising and fun events to show people how much fun they can have with the club. A few days after fall finals finish, the SCSSC joins snow clubs from

many other UCs on a trip called All Cal, an epic, week-long ski trip week-long ski trip at one of the top mountains on the continent.

Winter quarter, though, is when the club truly comes alive. Using the money gathered from sponsorships and membership fees, SCSSC is able to offer members shockingly low prices:

  • $30/day lodging and drinks!
  • $40 day pass to Northstar!
  • Dirt cheap passes elsewhere!
The club rents cabins all over Tahoe throughout the winter in order to ensure that members get the chance to try out as many different mountains as possible. We also help members arrange carpools up to the snow (leaving at many times on Fridays to accomodate schedules as much as possible) so that students without their own transportation can easily join the fun.
SCSSC exists to bring students to the snow, and continues to do so even through spring quarter as long as possible...but all good things must come to an end. Once the snow has melted, however, the club has plenty of activities for members: a softball team, a river float trip, a houseboat trip on Memorial Day weekend, and much more!
